Ninna-ji Temple
仁和寺
UNESCO World Heritage temple founded 888 by Emperor Uda. Former imperial palace turned temple - monzeki (temple headed by imperial family member). Famous for Omuro cherry trees - late-blooming dwarf cherries (mid-April) easier to view at eye level. Beautiful five-story pagoda.

Best Time to Visit
Mid to late April for famous Omuro dwarf cherry blossoms (bloom later than other temples). Less crowded than major cherry spots. Autumn (November) for foliage. Beautiful any season.
